Thai Recipes from Spicy Villa cookbook mostly covers everyday cousine from Northern Thailand, however, you will also find some of the most notable dishes from other regions.
Our cookbook includes recipes for appetizers, soups, curries, chily pastes, salads, main dishes, and desserts. Some of the most notable Thai dishes are included, such as Papaya Salad (Som Tam), Green Curry (Gaeng Kiao Wan), and Pad Thai, and there are also less well-known but just as delicious local specialties, such as Karen Rice Curry (Kao Buer), Mashed Jackfruit (Tam Khanun), or Steamed Meat in Banana Leaf (Hor Neung).
Given that some of the kitchen tools and utensils, such as Thai pancake moulds or banana leafs, that are commonly used to prepare dished in Thailand might not be available abroad, recipes are adjusted so that dishes can be cooked in any kitchen.
Most of the dishes, except for the desserts, contain meat or fish, but they can be made vegetarian or vegan by replaing the meat with tofu, seitan, textured soy protein, or mushrooms. We provide suggestions for how to replace the meat for some of the recipes.
